Mayor's Welcome

On behalf of the City of Weslaco, I am pleased to welcome you to the official City of Weslaco website.

I want to take a moment to share with you just a few of the things that make me proud to call Weslaco home.  Situated in the center of the Rio Grande Valley, the fastest growing region in Texas, our community is rich with history.  

We are home to three nature centers, including the World Birding Center. We have warm welcoming hearts for nature tourists from all over the world who come to catch a glimpse of birds that can only be found in this part of Texas.

Our community loves to show off our vibrant and charming historic downtown with our monthly music event Alfresco Weslaco – Music & Art on the Street.

Our vibrant Mexican culture and heritage is shared by the entire region as we sit just north of the Progreso International Bridge. We boast often that we have the best restaurants in the Valley.

My goal is to make sure our residents and our businesses alike are connected to and informed of the work we are doing on their behalf. I encourage everyone to engage us in conversation, and when I say engage I mean: calling the Mayor’s and/or the City Manager’s office, sending an email, following us on Facebook and Twitter, or even mailing us a letter. My promise to you is WE will listen.

Weslaco is a community that has experienced vast yet planned growth in the last five years. With the help of our staff and City Commission members, as Mayor, my promise to you the citizen is to make life in Weslaco the best that it can be – and to you our visitors, I say Bienvenidos –  and to investors know that our doors are wide open for business.

We welcome and encourage your feedback, comments, and suggestions to help make our city the best in the Valley.What we plan today has a great effect on where we'll be tomorrow. Our location and our people are the Weslaco Advantage. We are a City on the Grow!
