DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

Weslaco Fire Department provides Fire Suppression and Emergency Medical Services to the citizens of Weslaco, Texas from 3 fire stations and a staff of 72 commissioned Firefighters/EMS personnel.

Fire Marshal's Office

The Weslaco Fire Marshal’s Office is responsible for code enforcement and fire safety inspections for over 1300 commercial buildings including churches, medical facilities, schools, apartment buildings, and industrial complexes.

When a commercial building is constructed within the city limits of Weslaco, the Fire Marshal’s Office is responsible for making sure the building is constructed in a manner that is in compliance with locally adopted fire codes. This process starts with building plans review all the way to final code compliance inspection.

Fire Marshal's office is also responsible for determining the origin and cause of fires occurring inside the city limits of Weslaco. If the fire is determined to be intentional then it is the responsibility of the Weslaco Fire Marshal’s Office to find who is responsible for setting the fire and charge them with Arson.

The Weslaco Fire Marshal’s Office consists of the Fire Marshal, Assistant Fire Marshal and two Fire Inspectors/Fire Investigators.
